2. PC Care
2.1) Eligibility
PC Care is a low-cost domestic service intended for residential premises and non-business customers, and all calls are accepted on this basis. If we become aware that the calling customer is ineligible for this service, we reserve the right to apply the charges and terms of the most appropriate service we provide.
For the purposes of eligibility, A "non-business customer" is determined by whether the primary use of the computer is for business purposes, and residential premises is defined as the fixed location property that is the home of the customer.
2.2) Charges
2.2.1) Call-out charges
There is no call out charge for Crewe and the local area (within a 10 mile radius). However in some cases a call-out charge is necessary:
2.2.1.1) Extended Service Area: For calls outside the local area a £25 surcharge applies. There is also a fee of £10 for every additional 5 miles travelled outside the local area.
2.2.1.2) Emergency call-out: For same-day call-outs, unsocial hours, a £50 surcharge applies.
2.2.1.3) Fixed Scheduled call-out: Where the call-out must occur at a fixed time then a £10 fee applies. Fixed schedules call-outs can only be specified to within 30 minutes. Fee is not due if arrival is more than 10 minutes later than scheduled.
2.2.2) Hourly charges
The PC Care Rate is £40 per hour, calculated in half-hour increments (or part thereof). This rate is calculated from the time work commences and inclusive of all activities that take place during the repair until the time the invoice is written.
2.2.3) Fixed charges
There is a minimum charge of £5 per item that applies to small parts such as basic cables, connectors, and filters. Larger parts will be individually priced.
At our discretion we may charge a £20 handling fee for any PC that is taken away for repair, but where the owner opts not to have the repair performed.
2.2.4) Tiered charges
When a computer is taken away for repair a tiered pricing structure applies :-
2.2.4.1) Simple Repair Service (£50) - This is the minimum charge that applies for computers taken away and includes removal of simple viruses/malware and simple hardware issues.
2.2.4.2) Complex Repair Service (£75) - This applies to hacked PCs/persistent viruses, or PCs with both hardware and software issues.
2.2.4.3) Advanced Repair Service (£100) - This applies to hacked PCs/persistent viruses as well as hardware issues, or PCs with numerous and intermittent hardware issues.
Replacement parts are an additional charge. You will be advised of which tier applies when your PC is taken away. If the nature of the problem is found to be more complex then you will be advised and have the option of having the computer returned and charged only for work completed to date.
2.3) No-Fix No-Fee
If we are unable to repair your computer you will not be charged. This applies only to the initial issue(s) we are called out to repair. If we are able to resolve the initial issues but are unable to fix any additional issues upon request then you will be charged the fee for all time spent, including that spent on additional issues.
The following charges are not included in the No-Fix No-Fee:
2.3.1) Call out Charges - All applicable call-out charges must be paid regardless of whether the computer was repaired.
2.3.2) Parts used - All parts installed/provided must be paid for or returned in working order at the time of repair.
2.3) Warranties
2.3.1) Labour
All labour is performed without warranty or guarantees of any kind.
As part of the service we may offer advice and opinion based on our expertise and numerous years of experience in the IT Industry. This advice is offered in good faith but EK Services cannot be held responsible for any consequences of acting on any advice or opinion offered.
Any express or implied statement on the suitability or durability of any repair is based on reasonable understanding and belief. Any subsequent remedial work requested is performed on the same basis as a new PC Care call-out.
2.3.2) Parts
All new parts are provided with a limited 12 month warranty and will be replaced free of charge if found to be a fault of manufacture or installation.
Second user parts are normally provided with a 14 day or 30 day money-back warranty. This warranty covers cost of part as charged and does not include costs of labour as invoiced.
3 Other
3.1) Standard Charges
The standard consultancy rate is £100 per hour. Marketed activities receive discounted rates to the standard consultancy rate and should be used in preference wherever applicable. Marketed activities also allow for uncharged time related to the typical operation of that business, and in those cases the standard consultancy rate is not applied.
We will deem whether the standard consultancy rate applies and provide you with written or verbal notification of this to yourself or your agent, at which point all future time spent will be charged at the standard consultancy rate.
A minimum charge of 0.5 hours applies to each item of correspondence written or received and each phone call made or received.
