Network Installations

ADSL Broadband

I provide a full service to ensure that you have a successful broadband installation in your home:

• Free consultation to select the best broadband provider for your needs.
• Free survey to identify filters/wiring required for successful installation of broadband within your home (this is not an engineering check of your phone line).
• Installation of modems, filters, extensions and wiring, and driver software for a single fixed cost.
• I can also setup and supply broadband routers which provide greater performance, security, and flexibility for a small additional charge.

The arrival of free broadband is great for everyone, but before signing up be careful that there aren't hidden penalties if you want to change provider. Most good pay broadband lets you freely leave with one month's notice.

Wireless Networks

Wireless networks remove the need for a telephone extension lead to your computer, and allow you to easily have more than one computer sharing the same internet connection. Using a laptop computer, you could even browse the internet while sitting in the back garden! I will provide:

• Free survey of your home to find the best place to put your wireless router to give you the best wireless coverage in your home and garden.
• Install the wireless router and required wireless network cards in your computer(s) and all required drivers.
• Configure your wireless network for security and performance.

Computer Installations

New Computers

I will setup your new computer straight from the box to where you want it installed. I will apply all appropriate security patches and provide and install appropriate internet software so you can connect to the internet securely and safely.

Computer Upgrades

I will transfer the files between computers: Your documents, music, photos, outlook email and address books, browser bookmarks, etc.

The simplest way to transfer files from your old computer to a new one is to purchase an external hard disk, transfer the files onto this hard disk, unplug it, and plug it into the new computer. You can then also use this hard disk as a backup device, so you never lose important files.

I am unable to transfer applications between computers, and you will have to re-install the application software on your new computer using the original CDs or disks.

Peripherals and other components

If you have purchased a new peripheral and need assistance installing it, give me a call and I will arrange a home visit.
